Fraser Island here we come...or not?

Hello to all.
We are now at Hervey bay... known for nothing apart from being the place everyone goes to before going to Fraser Island, but dont tell the locals.
We have now embarked on the last part of our journey... the getting lost bit. We left Tony's nice and comfy home 3 days ago and have spent most of the time lying on beaches, lawns, or at best strolling on the above mentioned.

We went to Rainbow beach, where the rainbow sacrificed half of himself to save his beloved from a giant boomerang (beach with different shades of brown sand on the amazing sand dunes all around), not to mention the endless empty beaches.

We went on our 2nd tourist tour!!!!!!! hurrah!!!!! (the first one was in NZ, it was walking down huge underground rivers with a lamp on your hat "Black water rafting" REALLY cool!!! puf, 300 $ gone, about 160€). It was only $18 each so we HAD to do it. And we got to see 2 wild humpback dolphins. we could have fed them too, but pietro convinced me that I should let the little kids have a go instead (they were only alowed to feed the dolphins 3kg, otherwise they get dependant)... I dont see why kids should get to do everything first... they have a lot more time left to do it in than I do... but pietro distracted me with hot drinks from the cafe. But the dolphins were cool anyway, and we also saw some huge pelicans!!!! Obviously we forgot our camera, but it was 7am in the morning, so we are justified, and we are pretty sure it all happened.

Then we Planned our 4 day hike on Fraser Island, biggest sand island in the world, home of wild dingos and millions of sandflies-we packed onions and honey- (we plan to walk a whopping 15km each day!!!!!!!!!!!), paying for the permits before hand. Tomorrow we are scheduled to leave... and guess what... after months of sun and hotness it is now cloudy and windy and whats worse it is due to rain cats and dogs until, oh, looky, Tuesday, the day we get back from our little hiking trip!!!!! Tipical!!!
We havnt decided if we will go or not, but we probably will coz we have already paid something like 30 DOLLARS! We cant give it up can we?

But we also have brilliant news: last night our angels came down from the sky in the form of two germans (so...are they really Antichrists?), whom we asked if we could park overnight (sleeping in the car) on that street, and they answered "come stay in our empty unit"
. So we HAD SHOWERS and TOASTED BREAD and WATCHED THE NEWS and SAT ON SOFAS, which we havent done for ages....at least 3 WHOLE DAYS. We are getting spoiled. But it's worth it, three days of walking in the rain probably await us.

sup my lads. Its so good to hear that you have been making the most of our humble country.

Yvonne I am holding you personally responsible if a Dingo takes sweet baby Pietro from the tent while your back is turned!!!

on the subject of aquatic wildlife the other day when i was out fishing with the twins a humpack whale came within about 20 metres of the boat and we saw penguins and seals just out of sydney harbour.

anyway keep us posted with update and don;t feed or pet any dingoes because they will rip your faces off! cya

Thank you for the nice pictures, and words. We here, the family (all three of us), were thinking about organizing a big gathering when you finally get to Europe. Prepare yourselfs cause we can´t wait to see you. I can´t wait, I have started counting the days until you are both back, safe and close.

lots of love
mom

p.s. the 15 degrees here feel real hot and it´s so summery here in town that everyone, and I mean everyone is smiling. Actually it is so sunny that poor Dora, thinking she has the skin of Mediterranians went sunbathing yesterday with olive oil (following my mother´s advise) as a sunscreen and got a third degree burn on her legs and arms. One shouldn´t underestimate the strength of the sun here in the Northern hemisphere. We are all busy trying to heal her burns and get her back to normal. We all hope she will get a little tan for her efforts but freckles are more likely I´m afraid.....

Ciao, birbantelloni!

Come va?

A slight exaggeration, a little bending of the facts by mum, per usual I suppose. I have gone from red to pink and tomorrow a light golden brown me hopes :)

Hey Y & P! Received your message. Thanks! Glad you have survived the rigours of Fraser Island and avoided being eaten by dingoes.

On to the next adventure....
