Singapore

Here we are!!! And yes the internet is better here... not only is it faster, but get this... we are at the airport, on FREE internet points, and there are loads of them... FOR FREE!!!!

We are about to get on the second to last plane to Kuala Lumpure (which we realised yesterday is actually really close, and we probably could of gotten a BUS there for a lot less money, and seen some countryside on the way!!! Damn tourist that dont do their research!
Anyway, singapore was nice, we didnt have much time to explore, because I was sick all yesterday, but we have had lots of food (about 2 euros per huge plate!!!!) and we finally stopped being really tight and pietro bought himself a portable hard drive, and I bought myself a Kashir rug!!! pure silk, its beautiful....small, but beautiful, and it was really cheap (relatively)!!!!

We also saw little india, little china, and arabia st... and we found out that there are 4 main languages in singapore.

We didnt see enough, but I loved it, and I hope i'll come back one day...
anyway, now me and Pietro are going to sort our photo's into folders so we can show everyone, so far we have 5 folders: Art; landskape; gag; food;friends... what else is there in life.

C u all soon

Memoirs of the first days in Darwin

We wrote this a few days ago, but havnt had time (lazyness) to post it until now. But the pictures are from the last two weeks.
...
We finally arrived in Darwin! City that was bombed 62 times during the second World World, was torn to the ground by a cyclone in the 60s (we think), and today is ugly architecture and tourit party haven. Not very budget-conscious-friendly. But luckily our budget consciousness had a big shift this morning. We sold our faithful car! for the worthy sum of 1300 dollars. But the guy had a limit on his bank card, so he's gonna transfer the last 300 to our bank account tomorrow morning....mmmm....are we too trusting? well, the fact is we were pretty happy to get away with one thousand dollars...not only were both back wheels making their usual nasty noises, but as we were driving the guy to the ATM, a new high pitched screechy noise was born to life from underneath the car, making the two of us sweat much more than the morning heat would have accounted for. Sweating more or less the amount we usually sweat in the afternoon, when temperature rises to 35°C and you can feel the amazing australian sun burning your skin within 3 seconds. After 1 week in the desert we were very happy to come back to civilisation, not for the people so much as the electricity, showers (very VERY rare for us) and most importantly a FRIDGE!!!! You should have seen us today, along with our 1000$ to spend on food we also had a fridge to store it in, so we were walking around the supermarket buying basically everything that we havnt had for 3months... yogurt, 3 different types of meat, brie, milk, juice, eggs... I could go on and on, we were so excited, we were like 2 kids in toystore with a HUGE budget!!! AHHHHHHH and tonight we are making RAGU (spaghetti bolognese to all non italians) and we have basically been sitting around all day, since lunch (pasta with egg and zucchini) waiting to be hungry again for dinner. The hostel we're gonna be staying in for the week is a bit too much for us, used to sitting next to each other in the silent night by the car and the campfire listening to the dingos howling far away in the desert, but it'll probably be alright, after we get used to the constant loud music and the sunbathing tattooed crowd of the only common area of the place: the open air bar-swimming pool-night club.

Update: we met Debbie, from Sydney and had some great ragu together. We have been doing very little for the past week, and are starting to love it. The guy still hasnt transfered the other 200 dollars, but I believe in him (but I dont believe in the car, maybe it broke down already and thats why he wont send the money).

So far we are making lots of lists of things we have to do before leaving... but we dont seem to get round to them... we just eat, plan the next meal, and then wait non too patiently until we are hungry again. We have also found out that the cinema is free (if you look nonchalant enough) so we are watching crap action movies every night.

Wednesday we leave for Singapore.
Friday we fly to Kuala lumpur and from there to Rome
Saturday 6am Roma international airport fiumicino (airmalaysia, if anyone feels inspired to come get us). Otherwise San Casciano around lunchtime (house calls after lunch please as we want to enjoy a LOVELY Galgani lunch!!!!! let's say call after the simpsons, if they are still on anyway)

Spent some time in the sun, spent some days in the car under the rain, seen a few things. Tomorrow we hit the desert :o
The pics that just look like stupid bush are actually animals on the side of the road, so watch closer.

Our plan

We are driving as far north as possible as quickly as possible, until we meet the sun, the rain is following us from south...updates coming soon.

The plan for our last three weeks is starting to take form, around the three firm points of 1) enjoying the sun 2)seeing a platypus and as many kangaroos as possible (we saw wild ones today, and plenty of dead ones on the highway) 3)getting to Darwin.

Here are some old videos:

Fraser Island: check.

Fraser Island weather forecast for the days we were due to go there was: rain, rain, rain.

We still went.

Here are the only pictures we have of the island.

We don't have others cause the camera is NOT waterproof.

P.S. Yvonne's feet are green cause her shoes melted in the pelting rain.

P.P.S. in case you were wondering, no, we didn't stay there 3 nights. One was traumatic enough, and our stuff was so wet we could hardly drag our backpacks back to the ferry (11kms away from the "campsite" (dingo-safe-fenced forest))

Fraser Island here we come...or not?

Hello to all.
We are now at Hervey bay... known for nothing apart from being the place everyone goes to before going to Fraser Island, but dont tell the locals.
We have now embarked on the last part of our journey... the getting lost bit. We left Tony's nice and comfy home 3 days ago and have spent most of the time lying on beaches, lawns, or at best strolling on the above mentioned.

We went to Rainbow beach, where the rainbow sacrificed half of himself to save his beloved from a giant boomerang (beach with different shades of brown sand on the amazing sand dunes all around), not to mention the endless empty beaches.

We went on our 2nd tourist tour!!!!!!! hurrah!!!!! (the first one was in NZ, it was walking down huge underground rivers with a lamp on your hat "Black water rafting" REALLY cool!!! puf, 300 $ gone, about 160€). It was only $18 each so we HAD to do it. And we got to see 2 wild humpback dolphins. we could have fed them too, but pietro convinced me that I should let the little kids have a go instead (they were only alowed to feed the dolphins 3kg, otherwise they get dependant)... I dont see why kids should get to do everything first... they have a lot more time left to do it in than I do... but pietro distracted me with hot drinks from the cafe. But the dolphins were cool anyway, and we also saw some huge pelicans!!!! Obviously we forgot our camera, but it was 7am in the morning, so we are justified, and we are pretty sure it all happened.

Then we Planned our 4 day hike on Fraser Island, biggest sand island in the world, home of wild dingos and millions of sandflies-we packed onions and honey- (we plan to walk a whopping 15km each day!!!!!!!!!!!), paying for the permits before hand. Tomorrow we are scheduled to leave... and guess what... after months of sun and hotness it is now cloudy and windy and whats worse it is due to rain cats and dogs until, oh, looky, Tuesday, the day we get back from our little hiking trip!!!!! Tipical!!!
We havnt decided if we will go or not, but we probably will coz we have already paid something like 30 DOLLARS! We cant give it up can we?

But we also have brilliant news: last night our angels came down from the sky in the form of two germans (so...are they really Antichrists?), whom we asked if we could park overnight (sleeping in the car) on that street, and they answered "come stay in our empty unit"
. So we HAD SHOWERS and TOASTED BREAD and WATCHED THE NEWS and SAT ON SOFAS, which we havent done for ages....at least 3 WHOLE DAYS. We are getting spoiled. But it's worth it, three days of walking in the rain probably await us.
